Frequently Asked Questions
What is the adoption process?
Most importantly, we require an approved application for all adoptions. You can find the form here. Please make sure you fill it out completely! And read each question carefully. If you have used a pet mobile vet, please be sure to email those records to us after you complete the application. Also, it is very important that you reach out to the vet you listed on the application, to give them permission to speak with us.
Do I have to be a resident of Laurens County to have my pets spayed/neutered there?
No, as long as you are willing to make the drive to us, we want as many SC pets spayed & neutered as possible.
Is there a limit on how many we can register for spay and neuter per household?
No! We want to help you get all of your pets fixed! We just ask that if you have multiple pets, you fill out a separate form for each one. We also ask that you add a note if you want us to space them out on different dates to help with the financial side of things (it can add up quickly with multiple pets on the same day).
Do you have a TNR Program?
We currently do not. This clinic was desperately needed in this area. The response since we have opened has been overwhelming. We currently only have 1 team, 1 day a week for Spay & Neuter. With that being said, please only register your pets that you know you can get the day of surgery. No shows would mean wasted spots. There are ALOT of people waiting for surgery dates for their pets, we DO NOT want to waste any of the limited spots we currently have.
What do I do if I see a stray animal?
Call Laurens County dispatch (864-984-2523) to have Animal Control respond. Don’t remove the animal from the area in case it is not a stray, but simply a dog that just wondered from its home.
What do I do if I need to surrender an animal?
Please send us an email with the following information: a picture of the pet, the pets age, breed, sex, and vet history, the reason you need to surrender the animal. Is the animal good with dogs, cats, kids? We do ask a $20 surrender fee per cat (if it’s a momma cat & her kittens, we only ask for the fee for the mom), because we have to test all cats to determine if we are able to accept them in or not. The $20 fee
covers the cost of the test.
Do you euthanize animals?
No, we do not, please reach out to local veterinary offices for more information.
What do I do if I lose my pet?
We highly recommend making a Pawboost alert at www.pawboost.com They email lots of rescues and shelters and have a Facebook page. We also recommend posting in local Facebook groups for the best traction.
Can I bring my current pet to meet with a dog or cat I have been approved to adopt?
Yes! We want everyone in the home to be comfortable with the adoption, that includes your current furbabies too!
